Required documentation

Check: do you have all the required papers?

Registering with Stadswonen Rotterdam is step 1. But what will you need in order to sign your housing rental contract?

As soon as you register with us, make sure you’ve got all the papers you’ll need. Because once you’ve found your perfect home, you’ll have to prove you’re eligible before the contract can be signed. We are only able to rent homes to those who meet the conditions relating to things such as income and student status. Your documentation provides this information.

As a student, you do not have to provide a statement of income. However, you must be able to prove that you are, or will be, studying. You can do this in two ways:

1. With a certificate of enrolment on your course. We have a handy step-by-step plan for requesting this from Erasmus University Rotterdam.

2. With a letter from the DUO stating that you are eligible for student funding. You can find out how to ask for this in our Guide to downloading the DUO letter.

If you’re a young person in work, you’ll need to provide proof of how much you earn. You can obtain this in three different ways:

1. Download your Statement of Income from the tax office and send it to us. Our Guide to getting your Statement of Income explains how to do this.

2. Download your finalised income tax assessment and send it to us. Our Guide to getting your Income Tax Assessment explains how to do this.

3. Send us copies of your three most recent pay slips.

Stadswonen Rotterdam is only allowed to provide accommodation with a monthly rent up to €710.68 (2018) to tenants with a gross annual income up to €22,400 (one person household) or €36,798 (two-person household). These figures relate to income that is taxable by the Dutch tax office.
