Price cap and allowances

Does the price cap apply to me?

From 1 January 2023, a government-set price cap will be in place for how much each home can be charged for gas and electricity. This cap will be applicable for at least 1 year, but only if consumption remains below a certain level.

The government has yet to determine whether this price cap will apply to residential buildings with a shared connection. You'll hear from us as soon as we know more.

Do I still qualify for the €190 government energy subsidy when I don’t have my own connection to the system?

No, not as things stand at the moment. Various parties have been lobbying to get this subsidy granted to tenants with shared heating arrangements. A final decision has not yet been made.

Am I entitled to the government energy subsidy?

If you have a direct arrangement with your own energy supplier, you will receive a total of €380 towards your costs for November and December 2022.

It is still unclear whether this subsidy will also be given to those who live in homes served by collective meters*.
