Difficulty paying the rent due to rising energy bills

I can't afford to pay my rent. What should I do?

Are you unable to pay your rent on time due to the rising cost of living? If so, you can apply for a payment plan via the Stadswonen Portal. Worth knowing.

In the Stadswonen Portal, you’ll find an overview of your paid and outstanding bills. By default, your rent is debited on the first day of the month. But you can change this, here, to 5 days later or earlier, whatever suits you best.

What happens if I get into arrears?

If you forget to pay your rent one time, you don't have to immediately move out.

Here’s what will happen:

  • If you don’t pay on time → you’ll get a reminder.
  • If you don’t respond to the reminder → we’ll contact you directly.
  • We will discuss with you how you can pay the outstanding amount.

If you cannot pay your rent, the most important thing is to contact us quickly. We’ll be happy to help you avoid (further) problems by working out a solution together with you.
