How do I exercise my data privacy rights?
When you submit a request to inspect, alter, restrict, transfer or remove your personal data being used in our system, Stadswonen Rotterdam will handle this via the same procedure we conduct for complaints.
You should email your request to info@stadswonenrotterdam.nl for attention of E. Bruyninckx.
Certain personal data can be viewed, altered and/or removed via Stadswonen Portal.
How long will it take to get a response from you?
You can normally expect to receive a response from Stadswonen Rotterdam within two weeks of us receiving your request. We may need to verify your identity before processing your request.
What are my data privacy rights?
Right to inspect
You have to right to ask questions about your personal data that we hold in our system at any time. When we respond to your inspection request, we will also provide supporting information such as what we use your data for and how long it remains in our system. We also advise you on your other data privacy rights.
Right to alter
You have the right to ask for your personal data to be altered if it is incorrect or incomplete. When we agree to grant your request, we will correct or supplement your details accordingly. We cannot adjust subjective information such as notes, staff member opinions or research results held in your file. You can, however, add comments giving your own point of view.
Right to restrict use
In some instances, you have the right to ask Stadswonen Rotterdam to restrict our use of your personal data. This can result in a temporary restriction while we investigate your request, if it concerns things such as altering incorrect data. While any restrictions are in place, Stadswonen Rotterdam can continue to save and hold your data. We will inform you when the use restriction has been lifted.
Right to transfer (data portability)
You have the right to obtain (a copy of) the personal data you’ve given Stadswonen Rotterdam permission to use, or provided via an agreement, in a structured, readily understandable and machine-readable format. We can transfer this to you or, upon your request and if technically possible, to a third-party. This only applies to the personal data you have provided to us.
Right to remove
You have the right to have your personal data removed from Stadswonen Rotterdam’s system. This can be done in accordance with situations described in law, such as when personal data is no longer necessary for the purposes for which it was provided, it has been used unlawfully, or if you have withdrawn your consent for its use and Stadswonen Rotterdam has no other grounds for doing so.
Right to object
You have the right to object to the use of your personal data by Stadswonen Rotterdam for legitimate purposes. In this case, Stadswonen Rotterdam will cease using your data, unless we can demonstrate that our reasons for doing so outweigh your preference for us not.
You also have the right to object to your personal data being used for direct marketing purposes. This includes any profiling with relation to direct marketing. Stadswonen Rotterdam always provides opt-outs for mailings and offers. If you choose to opt-out, we will stop using your personal data for direct marketing purposes.
Please note: There can be cases when Stadswonen Rotterdam is not able to (fully) comply with your request to exercise data privacy rights. For example, if you ask to apply the right to be forgotten, when it conflicts with Stadswonen Rotterdam’s legal obligation to retain the data.
What should I do if I’m not happy about the way Stadswonen Rotterdam is using my personal data or handling my request?
If you are unhappy about the way Stadswonen Rotterdam is using your personal data or how your request has been handled or resolved, you should report this to us. We will naturally try to resolve this complaint directly with you. If you are still not satisfied, you can take your complaint to the Dutch Data Protection Authority.
